Long Form Television

What is television?
Television is a series of images, sound, and color coming together to create a visual media enjoyed by many. It's quickly become a staple in the life of many in America and of course other cultures. An appeal of it is the underlying experience of seeing difference situations from another's point of view, watching stories actually play out instead of reading them in a book.

The Handmaiden's Tale

I watched many of the series on Steiling's list, but the one I chose to watch for the assignment was the Handmaiden's tale. It was a book adapted to a series on hulu. In the world taken place in Handmaiden's Tale, humanity is losing their fertility, causing the human population to slowly decrease. The main character June is one of the small population of woman who is still fertile. These woman are rounded up and picked up from their lives for the sole purpose of living to produce children for the more wealthy 'important' men. Thus, the series is shown from the point of view of June.
It's a depressing series to watch yet very interesting. It has theme of rebellion, power, higher caste, abuse, ect.
This Story was definitely meant to be long form television rather than say a 2 hour movie, there's simply too much information and plot to lost to fit it into a movie time. I love to watch the telivision or movies for the sake of seeing someone else's view of the story. Elizabeth Moss played the part of June wonderfully and the set and clothing seemed accurate to the sake of the book.
